What is the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA)?

The PVSA is a prestigious volunteer award that celebrates the impact volunteers can make in strengthening our communities and our world. The President's Volunteer Service Award is an initiative of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and is administered by Points of Light.

HTCS is qualified as a certifying Organization for The President's Volunteer Service Award.

Criteria

Recipient(s) must be a United States citizen or a lawfully admitted permanent resident of the United States. Service must be with an approved Certifying Organization that is legally established in the United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or one of the U.S. territories.

Awards are issued for service hours served within a 12-month time period (HTCS follows the calendar to be in synch with academic year, ending in June).

Services hours must be in the HTCS community (as Certified Organization) and must be issued and verified by HTCS. HTCS PVSA Committee will decide what volunteer work they will count towards your Award.

The general HTCS criteriaon followed include:

  • Volunteer is not paid for the service
  • Volunteer hours are not Court-ordered
  • Volunteer hours MUST be with HTCS and be pre-approved by the respective Committee Chairperson or the designated person.
  • Volunteer hours are in any area of HTCS, with the following exceptions: religious instruction, conducting worship service, proselytizing)
  • Volunteer hours are verified and signed off by the Chairperson (or a designated person) of the committee where the volunteer activities took place

Eligibility

Service hours are measured over a 12-month period, and awards are designated based on cumulative hours.

The awards are designed to recognize each milestone of service achievement and are offered in multiple levels (Bronze, Silver, Gold)

*Volunteer Age Groups would be based on age "as of June" in the year the PVSA hours are being submitted.

Timeframe for HTCS:

  • 12-month time period is based on July through June
  • Applications (URL for the application form will be sent out)will be accepted through July 31st
  • Awards verified and distributed – September


What is included with the Award?

Award packages may include up to three Award features. We offer four different packages that provide flexibility with price and combination of the three Award features. Award features include:

  • Personalized Certificate of Achievement
  • Official President’s Volunteer Service Award pin, medallion or coin (medallion in HTCS case)
  • Congratulatory letter from the President of United States (included with all Awards)
